Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

ScanTech Sciences is actively monitoring the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and following guidelines from the Centers for Disease Control (CDC)World Health Organization (WHO) and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

The safety of our employees is a top priority and as a result, our teams will limit travel, telecommunicate where possible and reduce the number of customer tours and meetings at our facility. Also, at our Rio Grande Valley ECP™ Center, new state-of-the-art handwashing stations are installed to combat pathogens of all kinds as we handle customer products. As COVID-19 continues to evolve, we remain available for any questions and concerns from our customers and partners.

Food Safety

Regarding produce safety, the Produce Marketing Association (PMA)United Fresh Produce Association and Food Industry Association (FMI) have released the following joint statement:

“There are no clinically confirmed cases of COVID-19 linked to the consumption of fresh produce or food sold through traditional retail outlets. As consumers select their produce, adhering to food safety guidance is critical. We encourage consumers to wash their hands, and wash and prepare their produce following FDA recommendations.”

For more information, please refer to FDA’s Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) Frequently Asked Questions.

Increased Need for Safe Food

ScanTech Sciences recognizes that though there is no current link to food and COVID-19, other risks of pathogens remain viable to be transferred via food products. Delivering safe, healthy food to retailers, the foodservice industry, healthcare patients, long-term care facilities, and general consumers is as important as ever.

Unsafe food creates a vicious cycle of disease and malfunction, particularly affecting infants, young children, the elderly and the sick. Safe, fresh and healthy foods provide individuals with compromised immune systems the proper nutrition to combat existing conditions and prepare against future illness.

ScanTech Sciences is committed to delivering solutions that contribute to a safe food supply chain. Our treatment process, Electronic Cold-Pasteurization™ (ECP™) is aimed at eliminating bacteria on food products using electricity – without the need for harmful chemicals or additives.
